Emily’s News 2014
Success at Osberton
Rinwood Cooley finished what has been a great year with 7th place in the 7yr old Champs and ended his season by elevating his points tally to Advanced!
‘He is so consistent and such a natural competitor. I am really looking forward to stepping him up to Advanced next year.’
A Cooley Takeover jumped a very mature double clear in the 5yr old Champs. He did a lovely test, unfortunately the judges didn’t love him as much as I do!
Out on a high for Uppercourt Cooley
Uppercourt Cooley finished with a win in his last run of the year in the Novice at Berkshire College.
‘He’s is such a classy horse, who has taken time to strengthen up and mature this year. I’m thrilled that he has ended the season so well’.
Good prep runs at South of England
The boys all enjoyed good prep runs at South of England, ready for their last runs of the season. Uppercourt Cooley really starting to look very comfortable at Novice with a double clear and a lower placing.

A Cooley Takeover shines even brighter at Brightling
The other two boys also put in good performances. Uppercourt Cooley gained more valuable mileage at Novice level and was placed 8th. Rinwood Cooley was great in the CIC** with a super dressage, just one down and a steady clear xc to finish with a lower placing.
‘Brightling Park was a wonderful event. The ground was probably the best I have ever seen it. The courses had had a few tweaks, and the hills are great to improve the horses fitness. I know my horses will have learnt a few things over the weekend.’
All three phases came together for the lovely little 5yr old A Cooley Takeover in the KBIS 5yr old class, for a very pleasing 3rd.
‘He produced a 23.5 and double clear, and you can’t ask for much more than that from a 5yr old!
Normally that would have been good enough for a win, but the competition is very hot in these 5yr old classes.’
Rain doesn’t stop play
‘After a few weeks of inclement weather I felt the ground was too sticky to event so the boys have been out show jumping a fair bit. In fact in four shows, ironically, none of them have had a fence down!
‘Rinwood Cooley won his entry fee and more each time!’

Rinwood Cooley had his first taste of a CCI at Houghton. He put in his usual calm obedient test and scored a solid 47.
‘I was slightly disappointed with the mark, I felt he was a little ungenerously marked’
He went on to storm around the xc, making it feel super easy.
‘This was the first time Rinwood Cooley show jumped after he had been xc. I wasn’t expecting him to be quite so fresh. He was very excited in the warm up and when we went into the arena the jumps didn’t seem to back him off at all. Unfortunately this resulted in 8 faults. It was a learning curve for both of us, next time he will definitely be having a bit more work on the last day of a three day!’

‘I am hugely excited about this horse. We are still very much getting to know each other, and he is yet to feel like ‘my horse’ but things are certainly coming together!’

His form continued at Hambleden where he narrowly missed out on the top spot by 0.7.
‘Rinwood Cooley feels fitter and stronger this year, and I’m enjoying the benefits of this!’
The season started well with Emily’s beautiful homebred Jibber Jabber being placed in both his BE100 classes at Munstead and Goring Heath.
He has now been sold to a lovely lady who we are sure will have lots of fun with him.Photo by Spidge Photography
